Do you own a dog who loves to shed all over your house? 🙋‍♀️

We’ve got a brilliant solution! Introducing the Shed Defender – a onesie just for dogs.

This innovative product was featured on Shark Tank back in 2018. Basically, the Dog Onesie Shed Defender contains loose hair and dander within the suit, while still allowing the dog to shed naturally. No more hair EVERYWHERE! 🙌

In addition to controlling all of that shedding, the Shed Defender is said to help reduce anxiety due to the snug fit which supposedly gives the dog a calming effect – kind of like the same effect weighted blankets have on humans!

The Shed Defender can also replace bulky medical cones since it covers up any wounds, surgical sites, etc. your dog may have a hard time leaving alone.

On the fence? Check out a few of the many 5-star reviews:

“Easy for us to put on. Our dog sheds so much it gets annoying. But we love her like crazy. The car is the issue since her fur is hard to vacuum up in the car. We only put it on if she goes in the car. She looks adorable with her hot pink on. 💞”

“I absolutely love this product. It fit my pug perfectly. He has allergies and I use it to prevent him from chewing on his lower legs and the inside of his thighs. It’s the only bodysuit that covers his complete body.”

“I was super impressed with their customer service, and even more impressed with the product. Does exactly what it says! Contains dander and prevents shedding from my very fluffy Chow Shepherd. She has horrendous allergies, and constantly bites her butt, above her tail. This suit keeps her from irritating her skin MUCH better than anything else I have tried, and she doesn’t seem to mind wearing it. I’ll probably buy one or two more.”

Does it cool in the summertime? Dogs get very hot in the heat.

  2. Dani

This feels unnatural. If you get a dog, you’re signing up for fur everywhere.

    • Lisa

“Dogs don’t shed….They emit magical fibers of joy and love!” (Author unknown to me).

    • Holly

Yup, my dogs shed like crazy and I don’t mind constantly vacuuming at all. I love them so much💓

  3. Nana

    Is that a St Bernard?

  4. A.B.

Y’all, these dogs in unitards?!? I’m dying!!! 🤣🤣 I just want to put my dogs in them, for fun! That St. Bernard looks adorable!

    • Heather V.

Me, too! My husband did not share my feelings (he thinks it’s straight-up animal cruelty).

    • sunny_girls

Lol! Yes, I thought it was a joke at first!!!! 😄 I would love to see my 100 lb lab in this!!!! But I can only imagine the wrestling match of getting it on him😂

  5. Michelle

Had to double check that it wasn’t April 1 again. 🤪😂🤣

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      😂

    • boltsmom

That was exactly my thought lol.

    • ddd0319

Me too! I legit thought it was April fools! 😂

  6. c melendez

How is my furry friend able to take care of their business?

    • Tara

My thoughts exactly, if you’re having to take if off and put it back on, seems more trouble than it’s worth. Besides dogs have their own onsie, it’s called fur.

    • Erin

Doggy colostomy bags for owners who don’t want to pick up poo? Or perhaps they’re working on a designer dog that doesn’t poop.

  7. Savvy Mom

I thought this was an April Fool’s joke at first. Haha! 🤣🤪

    • sunny_girls

Yes! Me too, like the thong diapers!

  8. Julie

DO NOT BUY THIS!!! These are terrible for their skin. I bought one years ago because my dog is a constant shedder… Within just two days, she had hot spots on her chest and bends of her legs. I thought maybe it was too tight, so ordered a size larger – NOPE. It DOES NOT BREATHE and their skin gets so irritated. Yes, it was convenient to not have to vacuum as often – but not at the expense of my fur baby (or Yours)!!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh darn! SO sorry to hear about that, Julie. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. We sure appreciate the feedback.

  9. enila

This is just wrong… If you don’t want hair all over your house, buy a fish. Make the poor things go through this so you can have more time to sit on the couch watching Netflix, or what?

  10. huertac1

That photo has to be fake. My St. Bernard would chew that off, eat it and then leave it in the yard two days later 😅 I can’t imagine trying to get him into a onesie!!!

    • Alli8

Right?! Mine too. Omg. I can’t even imagine the struggle trying to get him in that 😂

    • Heather V.

Same. There is zero chance my dog would be on board with this.

      • Lori

Just what i was thinking! My 140lb dog would not allow this thing anywhere near him.

  11. Peaches

Get a robo vac. Then you only have to dust. Everyone wins. 🙂

    • Amberd68

Oh my gosh…this! Our roomba saves us! lol..if we miss a day or two we see the doggie fur tumbleweeds roll by. I still like to break out my vacuum on the weekends for the carpets.

    • Marie

We roomba AND I dyson daily. The roomba will not cut it for our husky. the dyson picks up more than half a canister of fur per day! 😭

    • Fido

      Not the dog

  12. Emily

I use doggy PJs for my pup – not because of the shedding, but because of what we call the “swaddle factor”. Clothes help my crazy dog calm down. Something about the extra fabric on the legs helps more than just doggy shirts. The ones I buy don’t look as restrictive as the “shed defender” though, and they have a much more open tummy area.

  13. Charly

I can finally take my dog on my burglar outings without leaving evidence behind! *Only kidding

    • Erin

Haha. That’s what I was thinking! Leave no forensic evidence behind!

  14. Alli8

No way. My St Bernard would absolutely hate this. He’s blowing his coat right now and it sucks, but this would be cruel.

  15. Ann

What on earth? This is one of the silliest things I have ever seen in my life.

  16. Gen

Weird product. If you can’t handle shedding…. don’t get a dog!

    • Robyn

So funny!!- my husband & I were at odds for years about getting a dog & finally agreed we’d get one that wouldn’t shed until we met our super furry sheddy guy at the rescue 😂- I wouldn’t change it or constrict him- he’s family- annoying I have to vacuum more often but it was our choice 🤷‍♀️ just my opinion

  17. Maggie

Why are they trying to turn a dog into a person? It looks horrible! My dog would have never let me do this to her. SMH 🙄

  18. oo

My dogs would hate these. Also, what about the fur on their heads? Wouldn’t that shed? Silly.

  19. Mamamia

    Double take!
Was that a dog’s head super imposed on a child’s body?? Weird! Leave the poor dog alone!

  20. AV

I think people are being way too literal with these things. I don’t think they are for your pet to wear 24/7, but more for times when they need a quick ride in the care or you are having company over in a bit. I also think they would be good for anxiety, like the thunder shirt.

    • MJ

I can see how this would help in a car ride, I have a bigger car and keep my dog in his crate but fur still gets stuck on the interior. I would never try this, I put bat wings on my dog once for Halloween and he was so mad about it that he peed on the edge of my bed. Message received buddy, will not wear anything besides collar and leash:)

  21. evangelic20

Why??? Do the people who invented this stupid product hate dogs or are they smart enough to know there are a lot of people dumb enough to buy this crap? Life questions that make you go hmmmmm.

  22. marty

Sad, don’t like this type of advertisement. If you want to buy this you don’t deserve a dog. A dogs body needs to be able to regulate its temperature. Can’t imagine putting an animal in this damn thing. If you wouldn’t be happy in this everyday don’t put your dog in it. Stupid people will actually buy these things for their pets and think it’s ok, it’s NOT!

  23. Stacy

This product is real I saw it on Shark Tank!!!

  24. Gramma C

That doesn’t look fun for the dog trying to get that on but on another note I wonder if it would keep anxious dogs less anxious kind of like the compression shirts that my granddaughter wears for her autism.

  25. MrsGarfield

    This is just wrong!

  26. Lolly

I’m not sure if it’s this brand but I have the water-resistant version that I use on snowy days in the winter. My dog doesn’t shed at all (Old English Sheepdog mix) but it prevents all those snowballs from forming on his fur

  27. siena95

Wow, has to be a joke. My dog would never move in that thing. Just why?
