A bedroom should be a space of relaxation, retreat, and calm.
I’ve been slowly redecorating our bedroom while keeping those words in mind. Today I’m sharing some of the details and sources that have helped transform this area into a peaceful place of comfort I was dreaming of.
Bedroom (before)
Our room has been the last space to get attention, as we’ve had the same bed and decor for over 8 years. When we moved into this home about 5 years ago, all the interior walls were dark beige, and we’ve been slowly updating and repainting just about every wall.
Bedroom (after)
With the swap of a freshly painted white and grey walls, a new tufted wingback bed, gold bedside sconces, and a pretty farmhouse style bench, this room is now such a bright airy space that I absolutely LOVE! It feels so laid back and relaxed. There’s something classic about white bedding that’s so inviting, and this duvet is pretty and comfortable!
The DIY grid style board and batten accent walls my husband is installing are still a work in progress, as we still need to caulk and fill nail holes, but already the difference is amazing!

I love all the bedding in my room now! The white duvet cover has a great textured look and feels pretty luxury and high-quality, while my down-alternative insert is super soft and comfortable. The matching pillow shams are fabulous and make the whole look come together. I feel like this is such a grow up looking room now! ha
These blue and white square striped pillows are so large/oversized for the price and add just the right amount of color. The colorful lumbar pillow looks and feels handmade and high-end. It’s my favorite throw pillow in my house right now!

This dark grey bed is so darned pretty and comfortable! It was easy to put together, and I love the details along the wingback sides. I love that the bed is tall and makes for a great statement piece of furniture.
I could not love this gorgeous wood bench at the end of my bed more! The side details are so gorgeous, and the piece is heavy and high quality. I just love the look and functionality of it, too, and we use it often to put on shoes.

These beautiful brass sconces are like the icing on the cake! I love how they allow more room on the nightstands (in lieu of table lamps). They have adjustable arms and a dimmer, too. We had our sconces hardwired to the wall, and I love the clean and modern look they provide. At just $50 each, they’re a steal, too!
I wanted some simple and neutral curtains and love the look of these grey woven panels with textured white stripes! Can you believe they’re from Walmart?!

I’m so happy with how my bedroom refresh turned out!
After a long day, I look forward to enjoying this space to unwind and rest. I love how it’s stylish yet simple. The color palette is neutral yet feels very updated and modern.

Could you share the gray and white paint colors you chose please?
The gray in our room is called Seattle Mist and the white is called Polar Bear. Thanks!
Thank you!
Seattle mist, cracks me up. I live in Western WA and that is how our July is going.
It looks lovely!
Oh thanks so much ❤️
It’s looks super, so relaxing
Thanks for the sweet comment Candy!
Brilliant transformation! Love everything.
Thanks so much Dawn!
Ah thanks so much Dawn!
Can you tell me where you got the clock on the night stand? I’ve been looking for one about that size and color.
HomeGoods – thanks Toni!
Thanks! That was the first place I looked but they didn’t have any clocks when I looked.
I update my bedding but never my bed. My bed frame is 150 years old and I love it.
Wow how amazing! I bet it’s beautiful Pat! 🙂
What did you put on the wall by headboard…are they panels?
It’s still a work in progress, but it’s wood pieces nailed to wall in a square pattern – board and batten. We still need to caulk, fill nail holes, ect. It’s a decorative trim basically.
