Looking for a new kitchen accent rug?

It’s kind of hard to find one that’s pleasing to the eye, functional, and washes up well. I struggled with finding the right accent rug to put next to my kitchen sink for a long time until I discovered these Threshold brand rugs from Target.com! They’re machine washable, and they have the non-skid material on the back to keep them from sliding everywhere.

The best part is these easy-care washable kitchen rugs are so affordable (mine was about $13), and after two years I finally wore them out, but that may be the longest I’ve ever owned a rug like this!

Did ya hear that? It washes up like a dream!

I am constantly in the kitchen, both for work and for my family. The kitchen is the heart of our home with two kids, a husband with work boots, and a large poodle. I washed my two rugs countless times over two years, and they always came out of the dryer looking beautiful!

Want different styles and colors?

I have the grey medallion design, but there’s an entire collection of Threshold easy-care rugs in multiple sizes and colors to suit every style and room. You should also check out the awesome reviews these rugs have on Target.com because the positive comments are actually what convinced me to try them – and I’m so happy I did.

I’m honestly thinking of buying more for different areas of my home like my bathroom and hallway! I love that they look great and held up so well in high-traffic areas. It’s so unusual to find rugs that are this easy to clean, yet still looked new for years, no matter how many times I washed them!

See why we’re obsessed with all the ways we can use this roll-up drying rack!

I agree! I was hesitant to wash my runner in this line and I finally did it this weekend and oh my word, what a difference! It never lost its shape, didn’t separate, the corners didn’t end up lifting/bent… what a great rug! Totally recommend these as well and now I’m kind of thinking I might want another one! They really are great, affordable accent rugs!

So awesome! Yes, I bought a couple more too. Thanks for sharing!

    • JC

I have the runner too. I want to wash it but worry about it’s too big for my washer. My washer is 4.5 cu. ft. Is it big enough to wash the runner?

      • Bunny

Try placing it in your washer JC. If you think it’s too big, take it to a nearby laundromat where they have extra large washers just for this purpose!

Has anyone washed it in a top loader machine with an agitator? The one pictured is a front loader. I’m curious if it does as well in a top loader with an agitator..

    • Brooklyn

I have one like this from Walmart. Wash it monthly in our top loader machine with an agitator with no issues!

    • NV2007

I do know my particular rug says to wash in a front loader. It may vary depending on the size of the rug, though.

    • tracey

Mine is a top loader but no agitator and I can wash anything that fits in it. My old washer with an agitator used to beat the heck out of my clothes, car seat liners, you name it! If you have an agitator, try the delicate or gentle wash modes and see what happens. If it’s still too rough on them, you’ll have to hand wash or go to a laundry mat.

I’ve been able to wash all the rugs bought from Costco and Marshall’s. The one from Marshall’s I had for a couple years and it held up really well.

    • roks

Hello, I have rugs from costco too. Do you wash them a top loader machine or front loader?

      • Tina

        I have a front loader

      • Jean

I have multiple ones from Costco and I wash them on the gentle cycle in an old Top loader machine which has an agitator too. Hope this helps..

        • Jean

Ah, I just realized that this was an older post! Oh well.. 🙂

I love the SONOMA Goods for Life™ Ultimate Performance Rug line from Kohls. If you are able to pair a promo code and sale you can get them for a fairly reasonable price. I have a few different colors to switch it up with. It’s crazy how much switching out rug colors completely changes the look of an area.

    • Megan

Oh and I should also note- they wash like a dream as well!

      • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing I’ll have to check those out too!

  5. LisaMarieRose

Did any of you who washed these, wash these in a traditional (non-HE) washer? And if so, what were the results?

    • laurentomkomarshall

I did and it held up great!

  6. Rebecca

I need to try these, because my dog….🤦

    • Kari Bross

I have these and love the look but they don’t hold up well with my dog or robot vacuum. I’m constantly getting pulls in mine and wouldn’t purchase again.

      • Andrea pollina

I completely agree with the getting pulls from dogs. The pulls are constantly getting stuck in my Rooma (I have a larger size rug). I as well would not purchase this again.

        • Rebecca

Thank you guys for that info!👍

      • Sallys

I have this problem too from my shark vacuum! I will not buy this loop type any more!

  7. Kristee

I love these. They wash up so well. I have the exact same ones in my kitchen. I switch out to red ones at Christmas. The Costco ones wash up great as well. I put these rugs down in my little dogs favorite potty spots and can wash when they are soiled. I put them outside around the hot tub and for the dogs to lay on in the sun. When they wear out I use them as mats for camping. I highly reccomend them!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

That’s a great tip for camping!

  8. Patty d

Anyone have a recommendation for a longer runner that’s washable

    • Julie W

      Ruggable

  9. Karen

I bought threshold rugs for our living room, a runner for our hallway, and for our front door when we moved in 5 years ago. They get washed once a month and have held up amazing! I’ve never had rugs last this long without the corners curling up after time or losing the rubber underneath them. Definitely recommend these!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh nice! Thanks for sharing Karen!

      • MJ

        What size it yours

  10. Stacey

They look pretty thin too, are they? I struggle finding a thin rug that will last at my front entryway due to my door not going over the rug.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I would say yes they are on the thin side compared to other accent rugs I’ve had. 👍

  11. Thia

Stacey, what you need to look for is “Indoor entryway mats” not rugs. Most mats are thin to accommodate the low clearance of a door. Mine can be washed with a water hose not washing machine. Easy to vacuum and very durable as we use the front door and not the garage entry. Though I have mats for both.

  12. Helen

I had them in my cart because of this post, but fyi –these are on sale right now/ this weekend’s Leap Day sale — for example, $10.64 Sale ends today Reg: $14.99 Save $4.35 (29% off)

  13. Smellyann

I use three of these rugs from Target in our master bath – two smaller ones and then a runner. I have to throw all of them in the washer & dryer all the time because we have a naughty little Chihuahua who tends to use them as his potty instead of where he’s supposed to go… ugh! But they come out great!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing! Mine are in my washer now, actually – lol

  14. CJ

I was my rugs in the washing machine all the time. I’ve never had an issue.

  15. Linda

Just an FYI .. I have a very small dog who caught her toe nail in the loop and the nail broke. She couldn’t get her foot free and I had to cut the loop. I threw the rug away and bought Ruggables as the have a smooth surface, are washable and absolutely wonderful.
