I’ve read reviews about noises, but to be honest, I can barely even hear it running even with our open floor plan. I love that the ice maker is in the door and it allows for an extra shelf of freezer space. Plus, from the outside, I can fill up my favorite tumbler with ease. Here’s one of the worst refrigerators we’d stay clear of!

disappointed man holding glass and bucket of ice in front of stainless steel fridge

Samsung – 22.5 Cu. Ft. French Door Counter-Depth Refrigerator$2,499.99

Talk about a serious (and expensive) learning experience. We bought this refrigerator for our new house when we moved in three years ago, and after just a few months, it has been nothing but a hassle for us!

Our ice machine also totally quit recently. 😟 This is after we’ve had two servicemen out for recall work (supposedly to fix our ice issues). WRONG! After resetting it, defrosting it multiple times, and having replacement parts fixed, we are now on our own – and completely dependant on the fridge we added in the basement for ice.

frozen ice on wires and metal parts with white plastic background piece

And, just when we thought a faulty ice machine couldn’t get any worse, we endured much bigger problems. The twin cooling feature on many Samsung models is horribly designed! Now, every few months, the entire back wall freezes up and must be taken apart and completely defrosted.

For us, this has meant many wasted groceries, excessive time wasted taking apart the entire inside of our fridge to defrost and fix, and a huge mess to clean up during the whole process! And while not everyone is necessarily looking for a counter depth fridge like we have, I’ve heard that a lot of the Samsung refrigerators with the twin cooling feature are just as faulty.

Samsung, if you’re reading this, you really should have stuck with making exceptional televisions! 😬

Here are what some other team members had to say about their Samsung refrigerators:

“My Samsung French door Twin Cooling Plus fridge was the worst. When I called the company to get help, they told me it was my problem.” – Jamie

“I absolutely hate my Samsung french door fridge! It’s a total piece of junk, to be honest! The ice maker NEVER works correctly, and trying to get it serviced or fixed has been a total pain. We’ve also had to replace so many shelves because they break so easily. Additionally, my friend has the same fridge and complains how terrible it is, not to mention she has had her ice maker replaced a few times.” – Michelle

I agree on the Samsung! We have a side by side and if there is a power outage or brownout it sometimes doesn’t come back on. Nothing we have done has worked to reset it. It starts working again when it wants to and sometimes it is 3 days later. No more Samsung appliances for us. Oh and our ice maker still works but the ice cubes are always broken since they drop about a foot from the tray to the bucket.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Darn! Thanks so much for taking a moment to share your experience with us, Lana! That sure does sound frustrating!

      • Natalie

I just read up on a class action suit against Samsung on the refrigerator. Information was and class action.org and they are starting talk sometime the beginning of this Month.

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Wow! Thanks for the feedback, Natalie! Good to know!

  2. Natalie

I also despise my Samsung. I wonder if there is a way to start a class action suit. I have to defrost my icemaker one a month. Resorted to using ice tray.
Anyone have ideas for a lawsuit?

    • rachael stone

I seriously thought it was just me! We also defrost it way more than we should have to!

      • Natalie

There is a class action suit started. Check it out on classaction.org.

    • Elaine

There already is one for their faulty leaking ice makers and let’s talk about their customer service.

  3. Sara

None of these are even remotely budget-friendly. Why would anyone pay $3,779.99 for just a refrigerator? You can get a refrigerator, range, dishwasher, clothes washer, and clothes dryer for that amount if you wait for a sale and aren’t obsessed with stainless steel and wifi everything.

Compact and slim just mean less capacity. You don’t need an app to make ice when you need it. Just flip the bar up. You can already choose how much water you want from a water dispenser. Just stop pushing the lever. Electronic controls aren’t necessary to make a refrigerator more user-friendly. Refrigerators were already user-friendly before manufacturers started putting computers in them.

I hate how wifi has invaded everything. No one needs to be able to tweet from a refrigerator or a toilet.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Sara! I know what you mean! The more features you add to an appliance, the more things can go wrong! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!

    • Sarah

I totally agree. I want my home appliances as low tech as possible. More bells and whistles means one more added expense. I thought I was the only one who felt this way!

    • JenNeedsCoffee

Not everyone wants a “smart” home, for sure!

    • riss

I agree. The more electronic gizmo they add on the appliance, the shorter the life span is. We had a simple side by side stainless steel fridge that survived 2 cross country moves and 2 local moves, and it lasted 15 years!

  4. Janie

Agree with Samsung as being the absolute worst! Our Samsung refrigerator flooded our kitchen flooring while we were on vacation. Never another Samsung product ever again after that!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

OH NO! Such a bummer! Thanks a ton for commenting on your Samsung experience!

  5. mary

My brother is an appliance repairman – he absolutely can not recommend samsung or lg – you get alot of glitz but a poorly made product that sometimes takes MONTHS to get a replacement part for not, if, but when they do break – beware

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh wow! How interesting! Thanks for the feedback, Mary!

    • Angela

Our fancy top of the line LG stopped working after 4 years. We are trying to get it repaired and it took a week for them to come out. We stayed home to get it repaired waited for the repairman to finally get here at 3:30PM for him to tell us he refused to work on his third compressor of the day… so now we are waiting another five days before someone will come out. I will never buy another LG again. They are pretty and lots of bells and whistles, but not reliable and customer service is not their priority either.

  6. Mona

I had a Samsung back in 2005 & the only complaint I had was the ice maker, as well as the majority of many other consumers. I replaced it with an LG. Talk about cheap and horribly made. I had 3 family members that worked for Best Buy when I purchased it, thank God. I had it replaced 3 times over 5 years for many different reasons. I bought a 5 yr warranty. After the warranty expired I still replaced parts at my expense. I finally decided enough is enough & purchased another Samsung. I have had it now 3 years & I can say it’s made 100x better than the LG’s. My family members have said they have had more complaints & repairs called in for LG’s over the last 10 years. Never will purchase LG again, for me it’s Samsung or Whirlpool, best made

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for letting us know about your experience, Mona! I haven’t had a Samsung appliance yet, however I do love Whirlpool!

  7. riss

We have a Samsung French door for a year and a half years now and we never have any problems (knock on wood!) Well, except for the light on the filter reset button. It won’t light up after i changed the filter the first time. So now i have to set a reminder on my phone when to replace it.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh good! Happy your Samsung refrigerator has been working well for you! Thanks for taking the time to comment!

  8. Carol

We have 2 Samsung refrigerators and they have been nothing but trouble! One constantly has a layer of ice under the freezer drawer and we have to take everything out to manually defrost. The other one, the ice maker freezes up and just recently there was a layer of ice under the humidrawer. Again had to manually defrost which requires taking the whole back off. Also have had issues with the oven and microwave!! Never purchase a Samsung appliance.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

DARN! Thanks for the feedback, Carol! SO sorry to hear about all of the issues!

    • Amberd68

Yep! This is exactly our problem! We have a Samsung side by side and I have to hack out the bottom drawer of the freezer every few months and deice it…SUCH a pain!! We also will get the a little random puddle of water from time to time outside the frig…HATE it!

    • Ksenija

Carol, we had it with GE. Same thing. Ice builds up and the water dont drain anymore. there is a ‘defrost tube’ on the back which gets clogged. Just clean it and possibly cut a bigger opening and it should solve the problem

  9. Jessica

I have been looking for a counter depth refrigerator for 2 years now. Thank you so much for letting us know about the Samsung. This is why I haven’t bought a fridge yet, I don’t want to get stuck with a lemon!!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You are SO welcome, Jessica! Glad this has been helpful!

    • Lori

I second that! I want a counter depth fridge so badly and I had no idea Samsung is a piece of junk.

  10. Lindsey

Our Samsung (same model) did the exact same thing. We had multiple repairmen out (basically just told us we shouldn’t have bought a Samsung!). We would thaw it out every couple of months and had it limp along for another year. Last week though, the freezer started to rot and we eventually had to replace it with a Whirlpool. (The repairman warned us that it would eventually do this.) We got 3 (trying) years out of a very expensive Samsung- what a waste!

    • JenNeedsCoffee

How does the “freezer start to rot”?

      • Lindsey

Not sure…the repairman said the unit would start to rot after awhile…and it did just that. It smelled awful!

    • Gina Seaton

Lindsay- SAME. Hate our Samsung. We have this same model, 4 years old and it’s been hobbling along on one leg for over a year. Every two-3 months we have to shut the thing down, move all of our food to coolers and let it sit over night then start it up the next day. Don’t even get me started on the icemaker. Repairman here 3 times, each at 300-400 bucks a pop and it’s still a piece of crap. I was glad to at least see that we’re not the only ones who got this dud!

  11. Marie

Who pays those prices for a refrigerator? Seriously?

  12. amy

I totally agree with the Samsung being the worst refrigerator and they should just stick with tv’s. We had it for a few months and started having issues with the ice maker. I reached out to Samsung for help and was sent an email about how to defrost it. DO NOT purchase!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh bummer! Sorry to hear they have not offered any help. Thanks for the warning, Amy!

  13. Holly

I agree. Avoid Samsung. My refrigerator has the ice maker problem also and the customer service is a joke.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Bummer! Thanks for the honest comment, Holly!

  14. JulieL

I have the Maytag refrigerator and love it! I’m not sure why each of these refrigerators included a link to buy from Best Buy, though, because the Maytag at least (and maybe the others) is currently cheaper at Lowe’s and Home Depot due to sales and available rebates. May is Maytag month at Lowe’s and Home Depot.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh cool! Thanks for the heads up! We’ll be sure to check for that sale! We actually love the Best Buy price matching, and they also haul away your old appliances for just $19.99. Hope that helps!

  15. Ksenija

We have GE one, we actually got it ‘counter depth’ so its not sticking out as much. Generally I am fine with it, except when we do not use ice maker very often, it tends to be ‘stuck’. We also had a thick ice buildup on the bottom of the freezer so we had standing water underneath, which damaged floor and surrounding cabinets 🙁 so hubby cleaned and made a bigger opening of a defrost tube on the back, so far so good. Customer service was good tho. Oh well… Oh the filters are expensive too, but we just stop replacing it 🙂

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing your fix! Good to know it is working better for you now!

  16. Melanie

Check to see if your state offers appliance pick up for working refrigerators. In PA you can get PAID $50 for replacing an older model with a more energy efficient model

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh wow! GREAT tip, Melanie! Thank you!

  17. Suzanne H

After my Samsung dishwasher died in 2 years time, I will never buy Samsung/LG again (they are the same company BTW). Appliance guy said NEVER buy them. They make their parts so expensive that you end up replacing the item – so wasteful!

    • just me

yep I got a Samsung dishwasher that only lasted 2 years as well. I ended up replacing it with another brand from Costco and haven’t had any problems since.

  18. Ce

We have the 2nd fridge on your list (29.7 Cu Ft lg) and LOVE it. At $3779, the price may seem a bit daunting, but it goes on sale quite often. We got ours last year during Memorial Weekend and it was on sale for $2599 at Costco/Lowes. It went on sale again during July 4th and in the fall. I stopped checking once I was out of the price match period.

Pros: It is HUGE! it is a standard width and height so it will fit in most dedicated fridge spaces. However, it runs deep and you’ll also want to keep in mind that the doors will swing out both ways. We have a household of 4 adults and 2 kids. We all love to cook and still have not had a day where we couldn’t find space. The freezer section holds quite a bit more than any other freezer/fridge combo and has multiple pull out shelves…you can store a huge whole frozen pizzas (costco, sam’s). One of the main shelves can retract so that you can store taller pots, 2-liter soda bottles, etc, on the shelf below it. We can fit the inner pot for our 8qt instant pot in there without problem.

Even with all the different foods we have, our fridge NEVER smells because of the air filter. So we don’t have one food smelling like the another.

The see-through door-in-door is nice to have. You can just open up the outer door and grab the milk (up to 4 gallons) or condiments without letting all the cold air out of the main compartment. This helped when our power went out and we didn’t want to open the fridge more than we had to, just to get the kids some milk.

The ice section is thin, but it produces a decent amount of ice very quickly, we’ve never run out of ice. However, if you’re having more people over and you need to make ice more quickly, there’s an option to put the ice maker in hypermode and it churns the ice out even quicker.

The best part of this fridge that they do not concentrate on enough in their marketing is the dedicated middle drawer. You can set the drawer to various temperatures, depending on your needs. If you want to chill soda or beer, the cans can stand upright. We’ve changed our settings to accommodate wine, soda, deli meat, etc. But the most important thing to me is when I need to thaw out frozen meat, or I have raw meat that I don’t want to risk cross contamination with my cooked foods. I put the meat in a large mixing bowl and keep it in its own drawer.

Cons: The water dispenser is poorly designed. It is very easy to have it splatter all over. Another issue is that because it’s so deep, I sometimes have a hard time reaching the back of the fridge on the top shelf, but that’s my fault for being only 4’10”. Lol My husband has no problem.

We did our research on various fridges and don’t think we could’ve survived with an other one. In the past, we’ve always had to have a secondary fridge. My mom is very hard to please, and she has yet to give me one complaint about the fridge, except that she can’t reach the back of the top shelf like me. 🙂

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks SO much for taking the time to leave such a helpful review! We sure appreciate it!

  19. Jaime

We have a Samsung side by side and every couple months the fan freezes and the air in the refrigerator stops circulating. We have to manually thaw it (thank goodness we have a spare fridge in the basement!) and then restart it again. It’s a huge pain in the butt. We will never buy a Samsung again.

  20. Jocelyn

I agree, we have a Samsung refrigerator that we bought new, and it has been a terrible experience. We also purchased an extended warranty with it. We had a repairman out so often that they deemed it “irreparable”. We submitted that to Samsung and received a full refund for our appliance.

  21. Barbara P

I bought this Samsung model and we never had an issue and hopefully will not if so that’s what warranties are for. No product is perfect

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh good! Super happy yours has been working well for you!

  22. Lora

Ice makers tend to be problematic in many refrigerators beyond the Samsung and LG brand names. (Although I agree Samsung is terrible quality). I would rather make ice cubes in an ice cube tray than own a refrigerator with an ice maker. My ideal refrigerator would be with French doors on top, swing out door on bottom for freezer (with drawers) , no ice maker, not Samsung, and more affordable. I don’t need all the bells and whistles, just good quality at a good price.

  23. Angela

I agree about Samsung I have one of the recalled clothes washers and got the ridiculous “rebate” to get a new on that doesn’t even cover 15% of what I paid and am paying in a credit card for it.
I have a Samsung fridge I never hooked up the water or ice maker after I heard the reviews but after every Samsung appliance and tablet we had overheated or exploded etc I’m saving up to get rid of it and get into Maytag/KitchenAid (same company) they know how to make appliances and unlike Samsung are not computer companies just in the appliance business
I just wish I hadn’t believed all the JD Power and Consumer Reports etc that convinces me to buy Samsung in the first place. I appreciate your article great new prospects for my new fridge! Thanks

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You’re so welcome, Angela! Glad this list will help you decide on new one! Thanks for sharing your experience with us! 🙌

  24. Julie

My husband worked for Samsung up until last month. We were going to get some new appliances from them on the employee discount, but decided against a refrigerator due the bad reviews. This is a huge problem that we discovered about Samsung: They are a Korean company with NO customer service in the US. If something breaks, they cannot/will not do anything about it. So basically, you have to be super sure about the product, or be prepared to toss it when it breaks.

  25. Brittney

We bought a Samsung and had the same two major problems. The ice maker leaked and stopped working after three months and the entire thing froze up a month after that. We paid way too much for it also. The repair man knows me by name now. We eventually just got a refund.

  26. Laura

We have had our Samsung French Door 30.5 cu ft Twin Cooling Plus refrigerator since 2013 and it is a power horse! This is the rocket ship of all refrigerators, seriously it is enormous. We have not had any problems with it, knock on wood. The only issue I have is the crisper drawers are hard to clean if there is a spill and it gets in between the double plastic drawers. When our last refrigerator (LG) kicked the bucket the repair guy said that they truly do not make them like they used to, the average life of large appliances is 7-10 years now which I thought was a very low lifespan! It used to be 15-20 years but they are so much more automated, electric now and more room for problems, ugh.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Interesting! We have an old Whirlpool fridge in our basement that has been going since 2005. It is VERY basic. I’m wondering if that may be why it has held up for so long. Thanks a bunch for the feedback!

      • Laura

Yes, we have an old refrigerator in our basement that we bought when we bought our house 20 years ago! It’s still working just fine. It is as basic as they come. White with white handles, freezer on top, refrig on 3/4 bottom, ice maker with the thing that you push up or down. I’m sure it is an electricity waster and why our IPL bill says that we use 25% more than our neighbors….

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

YES! That sounds just like our old fridge! Thanks for sharing, Laura!

  27. Theresia

Samsung needs to stick to making TVs. Our Samsung fridge lime this is so a nightmare. The ice maker malfunctioned and sent streaming g water all over the floor until we came home to water dripping from the kitchen upstairs and could turn it off. Samsung was NO help but Best Buy stood behind it and sent a repairman. The mother board had to be replaced.

  28. Wendy

Will never buy another Samsung kitchen appliance – three times of spoiled food from the side by side refrigerator not cooling – no type of support from Samsung. Got rid of it and will never own another Samsung appliance!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh no! That sure is frustrating! Thanks for taking the time to comment!

  29. Megan

We learned our lesson with Samsung after buying a washer/dryer from them. The washer never worked, was broken on delivery. Thankfully Lowe’s replaced it right away. But then we had multiple other issues with the washer. We ended up leaving them with our house we sold.. good riddance!

  30. BooBoo

Ohhh! Thank you so much for posting this! I’m in need of a new fridge (and almost everything, lol). I’d love to see you do another list like this. Maybe washer and dryer or dishwasher next. 🙂

  31. Amanda

Oh my! We purchased Samsung appliances for our kitchen remodel and have found them the worst. The side by side ice maker quit working within a few months, and water would pool at the bottom. The dishwasher would wash dishes and then we would take them out a day later and they would be moldy! I called Samsung and they told us we needed to use a rinse agent! Worst customer service! We also purchased the top loader wash machine that has the recall for the top blowing off! $900 and they were going to give us $46 dollars to replace it less than 3 years later!

  32. Tera

I am very concerned that we’re not going to be able to find a fridge that fits our opening when we need to replace ours. They’re so big these days! We can’t be the only ones who can’t fit a 3′ wide fridge!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Tera! Maybe speak with the appliance department at your local Lowe’s or Home Depot to see if they may be able to keep a lookout for the specific size you need! Hope that helps!

    • Marie

Tera – that is exactly why we went with a Samsung model fridge – it was one of only 2 French door options that would fit the space. Don’t get a Samsung!

  33. gailbushfarmer

We have the fancy Samsung French door refrigerator with the drawer above the bottom freezer. NEVER would I recommend buying a Samsung. So far the ice maker has frozen twice in the last 6 months since we bought it, and we have lost all our food in the freezer once. There is a Facebook group on Samsung complaints and trying to get a class action law suit against Samsung.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh my goodness! Losing food sure would be a huge bummer! Thanks for sharing your experience!

Thanks so much for this post. The GE fridge, #5 on your list, is the exact fridge my husband just bought on clearance at Home Depot this past Saturday. It was marked down to $1,361.00. So basically half off and that $2,499.99 was the original price on it. I am so excited that it made your list of good fridges. I didn’t really do a lot of research but now that I’m reading this post, since we still have all our other appliances to purchase for the new house, I sure will be steering very clear of Samsung. These posts you have been doing on comparisons and the like are extremely valuable in many ways. I love that you’re doing these types of posts and so much enjoy the additional feedback from other readers because it’s so helpful and thoughtful when someone gives their experiences with various products as well. Thanks again for these posts. And by the way, I love this site. I think you really did something awesome in expanding in this way with this site.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yay! Congrats on the purchase of your new fridge! Hope you LOVE it! Thanks a bunch for the super sweet feedback, Nancy! It sure means a lot! 🥰 We are so glad you are here and loving the tips!

I want to throw my Samsung fridge out the window every month when I have to defrost and reset the ice machine. EVERY. MONTH. And to think I bought it because I loved the stove and wanted everything to match. 🙁

  36. Ticia

We have a LG maximum capacity french door fridge that we got 8 years ago and we still love it. We have had NO problems with it at all. It’s still in great shape for it’s age.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh awesome! Good to know your LG has held up so well, Tricia! Thanks for sharing!

  37. Abby

I agree with the Samsung posting. We will not be buying another Samsung, even TVs. Nothing has been great about any of these appliances. My sister can also vouch she won’t buy that brand either.

  38. amy

We have the same issue with our samsung and it isn’t even paid off. We are making ice with ice cube trays!

  39. Cess Wood

Bought a whole kitchen Samsung set for our new home about 5 years ago. We loved the look but that was pretty much it! It did not take long before the issues started. The refrigerator door was faulty and would not close all the way. We had to contact Samsung and it would take a week before any response was given. We decided to return the whole set to home depot and bought a Maytag set instead. Best decision ever. Some issues with the dishwasher with the cheap plastic easy to break components but other than that we are happy with Maytag. Community service and warranty cover are great!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks a ton for letting us know about your experience, Cess! That sure does sound frustrating. SO happy you are loving your Maytag set!

  40. Leona

I’ve been told be appliance service people to never buy a Samsung refrigerator!!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      Thanks, Leona! Good to know!

  41. Sarah

Can you do reviews on dishwashers? I may have to get a new one….we have a samsung…..horrible!

    • Gwenn

Yes, please do a dishwasher review. I heard that Bosch are good.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yes! Be sure to stay tuned!

  42. laurrette

Yes – I agree on the Samsung Counter depth fridge – it is the worse – mine was repaired twice within the 1st 6 months. Now after the warranty the ice maker has died yet again. There is a class action suit on the east coast that has been opened on this product. I have tried to start one here on the west coast but it has not gotten any traction as of yet. If you go into any used appliance shop you will see tons of samsung appliances – they all have issues. I will never buy another samsung appliance every again. And if you go to any electronics store all samsungs are on sale – Gee I wonder why. And the sales reps all push the extended warranty (cuz it is a piece of crap).

  43. Carolyn

How funny that you posted this! We just had a repairman come out last week for our Samsung French Door refrigerator with the twin cooling… lol! We bought a house and this is the fridge they had, so it is what it is until we replace it, and thankfully our repair was included in our home warranty (paid by the seller), but even the repair guy said that he only expects the ice maker to last 6 months. 6 months is it?! Ridiculous!! His recommendation was a Bosch refrigerator in terms of how often he has to replace parts, but I haven’t done the work to look into them. He also showed me how to clean the back of the fridge (which apparently you’re supposed to do once a year?!) so that was helpful! I will never buy a Samsung appliance. We also have a stove from them that has been fine so far, but if they can’t get the fridge right, why would I purchase another appliance from them? So crazy to see so many people who are NOT fans of theirs!!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yes! SO crazy how so many are having the same issues with Samsung. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us! Good to know which type of refrigerator your repair man recommended!

  44. Jeremiah2911

Can someone please tag a customer service manager from Samsung on here!? Hah I wish these comments transferred to social media sometimes and these companies might receive more attention and peer pressure to do the right thing!

  45. Veronique

Never buy a Samsung or even Frigidaire. We bought a three door one in November 2018. I thought that would be a great brand. Literally replacing our water filter every two months! That’s $50 every two months. They sent service out twice then said it is how the fridge is set up. But don’t worry here is 25% rebate if you buy a water filter from Lowe’s. I want to pull my hair out. These are expensive and then to have to do that is crazy. Never again.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Darn! That sure does sound like it would add up. Thanks for the feedback, Veronique!

    • riss

Veronique, why did you have to replace the filter so often? Isn’t it every 6 months or 300 gallons?

  46. T

Unfortunately I have a POS samsung refrigerator as well. Had to replace the control panel or whatever it is–it was packed with ice. AND–I have this constant puddle of water under the deli tray –it turns to ice more toward the back of the fridge and up a bit. I literally have a kitchen towel that stays under the deli rack to soak up the water or else there gets to be so much water it would just pour out onto the floor when the door would open. The towel ends up being frozen and so I have to take it out and replace it with another one every so often. Also–everything (like the trays and drawers) cracks SO easy–I don’t even know how! PLUS–my refrigerator dents so easily. I called Samsung about the water issue–they didn’t give a crap even though I told them many people are having the same problem as me–they denied it and said it was the first they heard of any issues. They are the worst company ever. Will never buy a samsung product again. LG–I have had a washer and dryer from them for what seems forever. Had an issue with the washer–they replaced it with a brand new washer–zero issues. Everyone was having that mold smell with their front loading washers–I’ve never had that issue. LG microwave–not so happy with. Overall appliances aren’t made like they used to be. I feel like they are made to be disposable but at the cost of something that should last forever. I don’t ever remember my grandma’s appliances breaking down or even being replaced. I’ve seen places that still have those nasty green color refrigerators LOL. –but they still work.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

SO sorry to hear about the issues, T! Thanks a bunch for taking a moment to share with us! It sure seems like the older appliances did hold up much longer.

      • Patricia

I love GE. I don’t like the coldness and institutional look of stainless steel fridges. I have a cozy kitchen and I just don’t want to ruin the look by using an institutional look of stainless steel. Mine is in white right now and we are quite happy with it. If I won a stainless steel one I would sell it and keep mine. Weird but that is how I roll.
        GE
25 cu. ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator in White, ENERGY STAR

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

I can understand that! I love the white too! Thanks for sharing, Patricia!

  47. Christin

We have had a french door Samsung for 5 years and our ice machine stopped working about 3 years ago. Then, just last week, it started leaking water and my husband had to take everything out of it to defrost it. What a frustration when you spend a lot of money on a supposedly “great” appliance brand and then have it be a total flop. 🙁

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

That sure sounds disappointing. Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

  48. Marie in PA

Yup. Another Samsung counter-depth refrigerator fail here too. Same issues as everyone else on here. Broken in so many ways. The absolute WORST.

  49. Dee

I just purchased a Whirlpool 24.7-cu ft French Door Refrigerator from Lowe’s. The door was scratched by the delivery team and they are supposed to replace the refrigerator, but I am still waiting. I have only had this 3 weeks and the ice machine has completely quit on it. I haven’t said anything to Lowe’s about that because they are replacing it anyways. It just has me worried that it will be an issue going forward. I will say Lowe’s customer service needs improvement.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh darn! I have a french door, Whirlpool refrigerator from Lowe’s and the ice maker is still working fine for me. It is two years old. Hoping your replacement arrives soon without any issues!

  50. Diane

Do you have something more budget friendly then $1699.99? Thanks!

  51. je

Thanks for posting this. I had my eyes on a Samsung 4-door flex for it’s sleek looks, but after reading all the negative experiences with Samsung fridges, I am staying away. I already knew their washer and dryer were bad, but haven’t run into too many negatives on their fridges so thank you for saving me!

I’m also thinking of Samsung’s induction range. Anyone have opinions on those? Or Hip sidekicks… you guys doing a post on induction ranges soon?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

You are SO welcome, Je! Super happy this list was helpful in selecting your next refrigerator! Thanks so much for the induction range review suggestion! We’ll be sure to add that to the list!

  52. Sally

I have all samsung appliances and I love them all except the counter depth french door fridge!!! The freezer has the WORST freezer burn. And it’s its on energy saver it creates an incredible amount of condensation inbetween the doors, therefore we never use that feature. It’s horrible, but I guess at least the ice maker hasn’t given out……If anyone does figure out a class action lawsuit let me know.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Glad you have been loving your other Samsung appliances, Sally! Thanks for taking a moment to comment!

  53. Javier

This post made us decide against buying a samsung fridge. These companies need to start paying attention.
    We are from Chile.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

SO happy this post was helpful in deciding on what fridge will be best for you, Javier!

  54. Sarah

Samsung definitely deserves all of the negative reviews, but so does LG! LG should not be on this list at all. They also have horrible customer service and frequently need major service after only 3 years. Our $3000 fridge had to be trashed after 6 years.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

DARN! Thanks for the warning, Sarah! SO sorry to hear about that.
